Liberal Democrat
leader Nick Clegg MP and Radio ORLA FM are keen to hear from the Polish
community in the UK about issues that matter to them.
Poles leaving
Britain...access to housing and education...employment prospects...discrimination...and how local communities will be affected by
the global financial crisis...are just some of the subjects Poles are
worried about in Britain today.
The Liberal Democrats are the third-largest party at Westminster and pride
themselves on being the party representing grassroot communities and
want to hear about your experiences in Britain, which welcomed Poles to
work since May 2004.
That is why the Liberal Democrats will meet
Polish community representatives at The London Assembly, City Hall, London on November 17
and Radio ORLA FM will broadcast the event.
Meet Nick Clegg MP, as
well as Simon Hughes MP, Liberal Democrat Party President. The event is
hosted by the Liberal Democrats' London Assembly Group.
Radio ORLA
has teamed up with the Liberal Democrats for the broadcast and is
giving its listeners a chance to send in their questions for the
Liberal Democrats' top brass. A selection of Radio ORLA listeners'
questions will be tabled at the event for immediate response. Be part
of it.
Please email us your questions to arrive no later than midnight November 16, 2008, to:

LISTEN AGAIN:
Here is what Nick Clegg is writing to the Polish community this week:
London
and the United Kingdom now have a sizeable Polish Community which makes
a huge contribution to our society and economy. For too long
politicians have failed to recognise this fact. Listening to the
concerns of people who have recently moved to Britain has been too far
down their list of priorities. I want to change this.
I
am starting by offering London’s Polish Community an opportunity to
come and meet me, as a national party leader, at City Hall on 17
November. I will be there with some of my senior colleagues at a
special Question and Answer event where those in attendance can raise
any issue and ask any question. I am very proud that the UK’s first
Polish Mayor, Stefan Kasprzyk in Islington, is a Liberal Democrat and
will be joining me.
It
is very important to me that minority communities in London are
listened to and are better represented by our elected politicians.
Without opportunities to speak out, the Polish community is too often
the victim of media stereotyping and prejudice. Better representation
and a stronger democratic voice will go some way to end this.
It
would be great to meet you at City Hall on 17 November, so that we can
discuss further the issues that especially matter to Polish people
living in Britain. There are no tickets, so everyone is welcome and I
hope to be able to speak personally to as many of you as possible.
